Güneşi Bitmeyen Kuzey Afrika Ucuz Enerji İçin Yarışıyor

There have long been various initiatives to tap into North Africa's vast renewable energy potential. One of these is the installation of solar panels in the Tunisian lagoon. Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria have abundant wind as well as solar energy resources. In Europe, excessive price pressure on natural gas is now increasing interest in renewable energy investments.

As Efta Energy, we provide sustainable and clean energy solutions. Our main focus is solar energy. We serve a wide range of customers such as agricultural, industrial facilities, residential and commercial buildings. Rising energy costs and environmental problems are our common concerns. We install solar energy systems in accordance with regulations. We support energy efficiency and saving measures. We strive to make access to renewable energy technologies more practical and to overcome challenges in the sector.

Renewable Energy Sources in Tunisia

Omar Bey of Qair, a French-based renewable energy developer, says the company's 200-kilowatt solar power station on a lake next to Tunisia's industrial park could be a good source for larger projects across the country.

Given the situation with hydrocarbons and gas, Tunisia has no choice but to turn to renewable energy sources. Innovations such as solar power stations are considered a highly beneficial practice for North Africa.

According to Mr. Omar, installing solar panels on reservoirs or lakes makes them more efficient. At the same time, renewable energy sources have a great impact on reducing evaporation in the water-scarce region.

With plenty of sunshine, Tunisia is well positioned to generate clean energy for both domestic use and exports to energy-hungry Europe. The country set ambitious targets for renewable energy in 2015.

Tunisia has been in turmoil for more than a decade since the 2011 revolution. Ideological bickering is taking precedence over transforming the economy, which is largely dependent on food and energy imports.

Official figures prove that the state's fuel subsidy bill increased by 370% in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2021.

Ali Kanzari, president of an association representing solar companies, says that while there are incentives for renewable energy, such efforts are being held back by legal and administrative hurdles. According to him, imported solar panels are sometimes held up at customs for a month or more. Ali Kanzari says they need more flexible laws and believes that everything needs to be accelerated.

We implement effective strategies to overcome the challenges that arise during the realization of solar energy projects. Many factors such as bureaucratic, regulatory changes, material procurement problems affect the progress of projects. Failure to install or delays can negatively impact investment decisions and result in missed potential revenue opportunities. At the same time, if projects fail, companies may experience an increase in energy costs. There can be problems in achieving the desired targets.

In order to overcome such difficulties, we take into account the procedures in the project design part and make it possible to speed up the processes. We provide consultancy services by providing expertise in compliance with regulations. We reduce costs by optimizing product supply phases and closely follow technological developments. Therefore, we produce the most effective solutions. At the same time, we support the cost analysis and financing of projects with financial consultancy. With these detailed approaches, we make it possible for our customers to successfully realize their energy projects. We manage to effectively overcome all challenges in the sector.

Morocco Leads in Renewable Energy in North Africa

A large solar power station in the desert near Tataouine was connected to the grid in October, two years after installation. Abdelmomen Ferchichi is the head of the project. He takes care of permitting issues and the station's distance from the grid.

In 2009, Morocco decided to source 52 percent of its energy mix from renewable sources by 2030. According to the government, Morocco now generates on average one-fifth of its electricity from clean sources.

The Moroccan Ministry of Energy said that this vision is beginning to bear fruit, with 111 renewable energy projects completed or under development.

The projects include a wind and solar plant that will generate more than 10 gigawatts of energy and transmit it to the UK via a 3,800-kilometer undersea cable. Tunisia is planning to design something similar.

Managing energy projects presents challenges and opportunities at the same time. Failure of projects can lead to problems such as investment decisions being canceled or delayed. This can lead to missed potential revenue and growth opportunities and loss of government incentives and subsidies. At the same time, failed investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects can lead to higher energy costs, lower competitiveness and reduced market share for companies and households.

Failed projects mean a failure to reduce the environmental footprint and achieve sustainability goals. Firms may face risks such as reduced brand value, loss of reputation and a diminished customer and investment base. Failure to achieve energy independence and security of energy supply means greater exposure to energy price fluctuations and external options. In addition, slowing innovation in the sector undermines technology development and leads to reduced R&D investments. Failed projects harm economic growth by reducing employment opportunities.

On the other hand, Efta Energy's successful energy projects result in significant savings and increased profitability for companies and households. Effective energy use and low energy costs provide companies with a competitive advantage, increasing their market share and new business opportunities. Successful projects raise environmental awareness. They play an important role in achieving sustainability goals.

Companies that invest in energy projects increase their reputation, enhance their brand value and expand their customer and investment base. Through renewable energy projects, it becomes possible to achieve energy independence and ensure the security of energy supply. This makes it less vulnerable to fluctuations in energy prices and external shocks.

Successful projects encourage innovation in the sector, contribute to technology development and support the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. They also contribute to economic growth by increasing employment opportunities.

Algeria Ambitious on Renewable Energy

Algeria, Africa's largest natural gas producer, is marching towards an ambitious target of 15,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2035. 1.the first part of the 1,000 megawatt project is planned to be realized soon. But the country currently generates only 3 percent of its electricity from solar power.

Intissar Fakir, head of the North Africa and Coast Program at the Middle East Institute, made several statements on the subject. He noted that Algeria's cash surplus from natural gas exports will go towards improving fossil fuel infrastructure, not renewable energy sources.

At Efta Energy, we focus on environmentally friendly energy sources, especially solar energy. We provide our customers with fully sustainable, economical solutions. We help our customers to reduce their environmental impact as solar energy is more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. Energy Transition in North Africa

Africa receives an abundance of sunlight, with average annual brightness reaching 2,112 kWh/m2 /year. Africa is considered an ideal place to harness solar energy. Building new solar panels in Africa requires not only capital. It also requires robust policies that address the problems of grid infrastructure and instability.

Solar power is now one of the cheapest forms of electricity in parts of Africa. Experts predict that by 2030, solar power will overtake operational coal and natural gas power plants in electricity generation across the continent. According to experts, the cost of solar power will fall below USD 40/MWh by 2030. This will naturally be more affordable than the cost of operating coal and gas plants in the future.

Solar Energy in the Middle East and North Africa

Solar projects are on the rise in the Middle East and North Africa. The most important reasons accelerating the growth of solar energy are the low cost of solar energy systems and the continuous development of innovative technologies and services.

In the last decade, African countries have really taken advantage of the abundant natural energy resource of the sun. The UAE has also been instrumental in popularizing solar energy in African countries. Dubai has tendered a 200 MW Solar PV power plant. In addition to the palm trees project, which continues to run on solar energy, Dubai announced the Rooftop Solar program. With this project, it tripled its target. It increased the target contribution of solar energy to the energy mix to 15%. This proves that Dubai will have 3,000 MW of solar power by 2030.

Jordan awarded 12 solar projects last year. Although the country relies on traditional fossil fuel imports to meet an average of 95% of its energy demand, recent social movements in Jordan are encouraging a shift away from over-reliance on a single energy source. Jordan's Minister of Energy has announced the imminent launch of several renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 1,800 MW.

Morocco is notable for having the most ambitious clean energy target in Africa. It is on track to devote 42% of its energy capacity to renewable energy sources. Of this, 2,000 MW will come from solar energy. At the same time, the Moroccan Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energy announced last year that it had funded six solar thermal R&D and CSP projects to promote technological advances in the country.

Solar Energy Opportunities and Challenges in Africa

The continued push for solar power, following a drop in the cost of solar systems, has made electricity in many regions competitive with the wholesale price of electricity. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority recently offered a 25-year electricity tariff of around USD 0.06 per kilowatt hour for a 200 MW solar power plant. This huge cost reduction has made it possible for solar power to become one of the most competitive energy sources in the region. The IEA predicts that solar power will be the cheapest form of electricity between 2025 and 2030.

Some challenges need to be addressed in order to tackle more technological innovation. Extreme temperatures, for example, are one of them. temperatures of up to 53 degrees Celsius pose a number of technical problems for solar energy, which can limit growth unless they are addressed. There are other factors that prevent projects from materializing. Solar power needs to be stabilized on the grid and at the same time the cost of solar power in the region needs to be further reduced.
